Wedding Photography Tips

BOOKING A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Choosing the right wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions when planning a wedding, because your wedding photographs will be a lasting reminder of your special day. To guarantee yourself the photographer you want start looking early, so you are not disappointed that the one whose photos won your heart is booked, as each photographer can do only one or two weddings a day. You can have a look on the internet for inspiration, as well as visit local wedding shows, and start to make enquiries as soon as you decided your wedding date. You should make your booking at least 6 months before the wedding.

Usually you can preview the photos with the photographer who can explain their style, their packages and pricing. It is important that you select a wedding photographer with whom you are happy - you love their photos, like the style and approach and find their prices favourable. They will play an important part throughout your wedding day so it is crucial that you get on well with them. The wedding photographer should offer to meet you again closer to the wedding to discuss the details and your suggestions for photographs. Be specific about what style you like, you can even prepare examples you've found in magazines or brochures, or compile a must-have shots list for him/her.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PACKAGE

If you love contemporary style, your wedding photography package should include black and white and mixture of colour and black and white photography. Consider having photos taken during the bridal preparations for stunning reportage shots of you getting ready, adding magazine-style feel to your wedding album. DVD slideshow of your wedding photos for you to watch on your TV set can be additional, truly emotional account of the day. Preview of the photos on the internet for your friends and family should be a free service included with your package.

Traditional wedding photography fans shouldn't forget to include coverage of the reception as shots with the wedding cake are a must. Adding the reception venue to your package helps create a truly great wedding album as it provides additional backdrops to your photos as well as a roof over your heads in case it rains. You can also discuss with the photographer whether it is possible for him/her to stay for the speeches or even the first dance. To get all the important photos (especially if your wedding takes place at several venues) consider asking whether a second photographer is available for the day.
