If opting for civil ceremony, give Notice of Marriage at the register office which is valid for a year
Select the date, place and time, see the minister or registrar
Discuss the wedding budget, type of wedding, number of guests and type of reception
As soon as possible reserve the church / wedding venue and reception venue
Choose the wedding party - bridesmaids, best man, ushers, pageboys and witnesses
Compile your guest list
Book photographer, videographer, florist, caterer, entertainment and transport
Decide the colour scheme of the wedding and choose your wedding gown
Compile a gift list

Choose and order clothing for the wedding party
Order your wedding cake, ensure the colour and design match the style of your wedding
Order your wedding stationery, don't forget thank you cards and place cards
Discuss your wedding music - check your choice with the minister or registrar
Decide where to go for your honeymoon and make reservations
Discuss hair styles with your hairdresser
Send out invitations
Choose your wedding rings
Organise stag / hen night parties

Finalise the guest list
Confirm the number of guest to the caterer and florist
Finalise seating plans
Arrange trial runs for your hair do and make up
Arrange your last name change
Order drinks
Put wedding announcement in the newspapers
Think about your speeches
As soon as you receive wedding presents write thank you letters
Choose and order presents for the bridesmaids, other attendants and the best man
Organise accomodation for any out-of-town guests
Check that all licenses, banns, certificates etc. are in order for the ceremony
Meet the wedding photographer to finalise the details of your day with him
