Cheltenham Spa station is well served by direct services from London Paddington, Bristol, Birmingham, Swindon, Cardiff, Plymouth, Nottingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow. The railway station is located on the outskirts of the town centre and is well served by bus service D into the shopping centre. It is maintained by First Great Western Trains.

Cheltenham Railway Station

Originally one of many Cheltenham railway stations, it was called Lansdown Station and it was built as the Gloucester and Birmingham Railway station in 1840 by Samuel Whitfield Daukes who also built Francis Close Hall, now part of University of Gloucestershire. In 1961 the building lost its powerful early Victorian Greek Revival porch of nine bays. All that survived from it is one column incorporated into the right part of the facade of the station.
