Cheltenham Sport & Leisure

 

Cheltenham has excellent sport and leisure facilities. Cheltenham Leisure Centre, reopened after 2007 floods, provides new, top of the range equipment for the gym, while the Prince of Wales stadium offers an excellent running track. Cheltenham's beloved outdoor heated swimming pool, Sandford Park Lido, is a popular destination for families during the summer season.

Whether you are a serious rambler or just like to relax in a beautiful countryside, Cheltenham, surrounded by walker's trails with stunning views, has a lot to offer - the famous Cotswold Way passes through Cleeve Hill and Leckhampton Hill.

Football fans will appreciate the award winning ground at Whaddon Road, home of the Robins - Cheltenham Town FC, whilst horse racing enthusiasts flock to Cheltenham Racecourse, with its exciting calendar of races, the most famous of which is the Gold Cup.

 

CHELTENHAM LEISURE CENTRE

Recently renovated Leisure Centre provides residents of Cheltenham with top of the range recreational facilities, including three swimming pools and a health spa.

PRINCE OF WALES STADIUM

Prince of Wales Stadium was opened in 1981 with a cricket match between Gloucesterhire and Australia. It is home to Cheltenham RFC and Cheltenham & County Harriers.

SANDFORD PARK LIDO

Located in the picturesque Sandford Park, Sandford Park Lido is an outdoor heated swimming pool, open during the summer season from May to October.

CHELTENHAM PLAYING FIELDS

Cheltenham has thirteen playing fields, which are used by local sports clubs and groups for playing football, cricket, rugby and other sports.

WALKING THE COTSWOLD WAY

The Cotswold Way is an attractive trail that offers beautiful rural surroundings. Around Cheltenham the walk follows Cleeve Hill with beautiful views over Prestbury and the Cheltenham Racecourse.

WALKS AT LECKHAMPTON HILL

With its breath-taking views over Cheltenham, Leckhampton Hill is popular with local residents. Whether you are a keen walker or just like to enjoy the view, Leckhampton hill offers you a great opportunity to relax.

WHADDON ROAD STADIUM

Whaddon Road Football Stadium has been home to Cheltenham Town FC since 1932. It consists of four stands, giving it the capacity of over 7,000. The stadium has won several awards since the club entered Football League.

CHELTENHAM RACECOURSE

Cheltenham Racecourse is a famous horse racing venue. Situated under Cleeve hill, it host the world famous Festival in March, which is the highlight of the racing season.

CHELTENHAM GOLD CUP

The tradition of the famous Cheltenham Gold Cup goes back to 1819. It is part of The National Hunt Festival, a four-day event, which features 20 races and offers in excess of £2 million in prize money.
