Cheltenham has the largest shopping centre in Gloucestershire
in terms of total floorspace and traditionally beats such rivals as Oxford, Gloucester, Worcester and Bicester to attract the most shoppers for a great day out. It provides an excellent selection of
shops, and is the shopping capital of the Cotswolds region. Shopping is the
largest single attraction for day-time visitors who spend in excess of £200
million every year.

THE TOWN CENTRE
The town centre is divided into several main shopping
districts: The Promenade is one of the UK's most arresting boulevards, Regent Street
is another attractive shopping with the famous Regent Arcade. Cheltenham High Street is renowned for shopping with style. Along with
the usual big names, it is home to the Beechwood
Shopping Centre. The Brewery is a recently developed retail and leisure area, located near Lower High Street.

There is a regular market in the town centre every Thursday. The Farmer's
Market, which takes place on the second and last
Friday of each month on
the town’s historic Promenade, is a popular feature. Cheltenham Racecourse is host to a large Antiques and Collectors
Fairs on the last
Sunday of every month. |
