St. Edward's is a catholic independent co-educational day school for 11 to 18 year ol, which is opened to all denominations. It offers 21 subjects at GCSE and 25 at AS and A Level.
The site of the school, Charlton Park, belonged to the King Edward the Confessor (1003-1066), the only English king who is also a canonised Saint and that is where the school's name comes from. At the same site, Charlton Park School was opened as a Roman Catholic school for girls in 1939 run by sisters of La Sainte Union. In the 1980s the school became fully independent and merged with a catholic school for boys run by Carmelite friars.
The school has a wide range of facilities: dedicated computer suite and network throughout the site, Art studios and a new 'internet café' study area. There are concerts to give a platform for musicians of all ages in the school, as well as drama productions.
