Christ College is the first joint Roman Catholic and Church of England school in Gloucestershire. The school upholds the teachings of both Churches, emphasising the shared beliefs but also being explicit about the differences. It incorporates St. Benedict's Catholic School and Sports College which first opened in 1963 to serve the Catholic community of Cheltenham. In 1999 the school became Gloucestershire's first sports college.
A new sports hall with a wide range of facilities was built in 2005. It has an astro turf pitch, gym, badminton court and grass pitches. St Benedict’s has an expanding Out of Hours Learning Programme across many subject areas. Pupils have the opportunity to be involved in a range of activities, including: leadership courses, voluntary retreats, sports tours, drama and music.
