National Summary:    In 2005 the rate per 10,000 children aged under 18 years was 55 up from 46 per 10,000 in 1997. The percentage of children who ceased to be looked after during the year ending 31 March 2004 aged 16 or over, attaining 1 or more GCSE/GNVQ was 43 per cent up from 31 per cent in 2000. The percentage of care leavers in education, training or employment in 2005 was 59 per cent up from 46 per cent in 2002. Children and Young People on Child Protection Registers - in 2005 the rate per 10,000 children aged under 18 years was 23.
