Great Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust was created on April 1 2006 as a result of a merger between Avon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Ambulance Services. It provides emergency treatment and transport for the people of Gloucestershire, Avon and Wiltshire as well as non-emergency transport service to patients receiving treatment at hospitals and treatment centres within and outside the county for specialist services.
