The Gloucestershire Swedish Club was started in October 2007 as the Cheltenham Swedish Group. The name changed in May 2008 to reflect a growing membership from a wider area. It is a fun informal group to bring together people interested in the language and culture of Sweden. There are events every 2-4 weeks, usually in a cafe or pub. We usually meet up for an informal social gathering and some Swedish conversation in a relaxed atmosphere. We also organise events such as Lucia in December and Midsummer celebrations. We will probably start an official society in due course with talks and more formally organised events. The group welcomes people with a genuine interest in the language and culture of Sweden.
