Your Memories of the 1980s

PAINTING THE TOWN RED

Back in the early 1980s teenagers in Cheltenham did not have a wide selection of places to go to let their hair down. I remember the monthly disco that was held at the Town Hall. It was quite grim. There was also Eves nightclub in between Boots in North Street. This was also grim! The Night Owl was probably the coolest place for a teenager to be, in the decade that style forgot!

I can remember when I first saw the video for Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel on MTV, I was amazed by the effects. I think it was Nick Park (the Wallace and Gromitt creator) who did it but I’m not sure about that.

I loved the Rubik's Cube. I worked out how to do the first couple of layers and then I got stuck. But a friend showed me how to do the last row and in the end I could do it in under a minute depending how it was mixed at the beginning.

I remember watching E.T. and crying when the scientists took over and he was all gray and dying. Does anybody remember the film D.A.R.Y.L, I always thought it was the same kid as in E.T. but I don't think it was. Same hairstyle though.
