Master Genealogist 6.0 was designed by experienced genealogists who understand and prepare you for common research problems, including conflicting data, uncertain dates, adoptions, unwed parents, "Old Style" dates, disproven data, contradictory sources, spelling changes, multiple lines of descent, extra-long place names, missing data and sensitive data.

However, The Master Genealogist requires some computer literacy to operate and it takes a long while before you master all its features. The wizards look slightly old-fashioned, but work well to guide you through the initial import. These wizards and cue cards accompany you throughout your work in Master Genealogist unless you turn them off. The layout of your work area can be completely customized - you can resize the tables, which include details about an individual, his children and his siblings, and move them where you need them or close them altogether. You can save your layout so it's there next time you open Master Genealogist. You can view multiple databases at once, as well as drag and drop information between databases.
IMPORT CAPABILITIES
Out of the most popular genealogy software Master Genealogist has the best import capabilities. It can import files from earlier versions of Master Genealogist, Family Gathering, Family Origins, Family Tree Maker, Generations, Legacy, Personal Ancestral File, Roots, Ultimate Family Tree and Visual Roots. GEDCOM import works also well but you probably won't need it as most of the common family history sofware files you can import directly.

With Master Genealogist you can easily create and maintain individual or family specific to-do lists and research logs. It offers large selection of fully customizable charts and reports and the Gold version even includes a larger selection as well as large wall charts, HTML Web pages and multimedia slideshows. You can also publish a family history book with table of contents, footnotes, multiple indexes and bibliography. The advantage of Master Genealogist is that all reports and charts are fully customizable so although it might take you some time to get there, the result is what you really want rather than just automatically generated.
