Barclays Premiership Trophy - Barclays Bank

The Barclays Premier League Trophy visits Cheltenham on Wednesday, 3 June. If you pop in to Cheltenham branch of Barclays Bank in High Street, you'll have the opportunity to have your picture taken next to the trophy. Donations are welcome, money collected will go to Piep Piper Appeal in conjuction with Star Radio.

The guest director of Cheltenham Science Festival for 2009 is Carol Vorderman and she will be putting together a unique collection of events for you to savour. To stir up a good discussion, the festival theme for 2009 is heresy. 2009 is also 200th Anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin which is also reflected in this year’s festival events schedule. 2009 is the International Year of Astronomy, marking 400 years since Galileo first pointed his telescope at the sky.
As every year Cheltenham Science Festival will feature free Discover Zone, offering interactive science for all ages from 10am to 5pm every day of the festival at Cheltenham Town Hall, there will be also adults-only session on Saturday 6 June, 7pm – 8pm. Family Fun Days on Saturday 6 June and Sunday 7 June at Imperial Gardens are also free to join. There will be lots of interactive activities and live science experiments on both days from 11am.

The Tubby Blues Show takes place at The Tubby Blues Show takes place at The United Services Club, 7 North Place. Bands booked to play include Mick Rutherford Band. Off The Cuff - 'The Barn' at The Frog & Fiddle

It's a work-out for your chuckle muscles at this comedy improvisation show, inspired by TV's 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?', taking place on the first Friday of EVERY month in 2009. Family Fun Fete - Sacred Hearts

Family fun fete will be held at Sacred Hearts, Moorend Road, Charlton Kings on Saturday 13 June from 12pm to 3pm. The event includes stalls, food, drink and entertainment. The fete will be opened by the Mayor of Cheltenham, Lloyd Surgenor and the proceeds will go to Cobalt Appeal Fund. |

Cheltenham Circular Challenge
|
|
In its 14th year, Cheltenham Circular Challenge, organized by the Cleeve Vale Rotary Club, provides an opportunity to help to raise money for charity by runnning, jogging or walking around Cheltenham. Walkers and runners will be able to complete the full marathon distance, or do 13 miles from Cheltenham Racecourse to Brizen, or even just tackle one of the four sections, ranging from six to seven-and-a-half miles. The event starts from Cheltenham Racecourse between 7am and 9am for the whole course, or before noon for just section one. There will be free parking and free bus transport between the start and finish point of all four sections. Entry costs £8 for adults, £ 4 for children, £12 for families and £6 for members of groups of four people or more. Cheltenham Food & Drink Festival

Cheltenham Food & Drink Festival takes place in Montpellier Gardens and showcases the finest food & drink available locally and regionally. Cookery demonstrations will be available in the Cotswold Kitchen Theatre. True taste of Real Ale from leading independent brewers can be enjoyed in Real Ale Theatre and wine tasting sessions will take place in Fine Wine Theatre. There'll be music and a festival cafe for when you need a well-earned rest. Opening times: Friday 10am – 5pm, Saturday 10am - 5pm, Sunday 10am – 4pm. Tickets: Adults £5.00 per day on the day (£4 in advance from the Town Hall), children under 16 Free, must be accompanied by an adult.

Children's Painting Competition

Leckhampton Art Society is holding a Children's Painting Competition on Saturday, 20 June at the Scout Hut, Leckhampton Road. Registration costs £3 and it takes place between 9.30am and 12pm. Artshow will take place from 3.30pm to 5pm. There will be plenty of activities taking place during the afternoon. Competition results will be announced at 5pm. Refreshments available. Midsummer Madness Family Day - Hester's Way

A fun-filled community extravaganza will be held on 20 June at various venues around Hester's Way. St Aidan and St Silas' Church, the Oasis Youth Centre, Gloucestershire College and the Hester's Way Community Resource Centre will all host a range of activities for the day, which will include a car boot sale, stalls, games, a bouncy castle, competitions, a table-top sale and a barbecue.
Fire engines will also be on display and the police "Bobby Bus" will also be on hand. As part of the day it is hoped to present a display of pictures charting the history of Hester's Way in the past 50 years. Anyone who would like to submit pictures, or copies, can take them to the Community Resource Centre in Cassin Drive. The car boot sale will be held in Gloucestershire College car park. Cheltenham Connect Launch Day - The Exmouth Arms

The launch of the community initiative in south Cheltenham 'Connect Cheltenham' will take place on Saturday, 27 June 2009. Each of the action groups involved in Connect Cheltenham will be there to share their activities along with local trading and residents associations, energy and sustainability organisations, local churches and schools, and local musicians and craftspeople. The aim is for the event to be full of good old fashioned fun with lots of information, but also games and entertainment, provided throughout the day. Everyone in the local area is invited to become involved with Cheltenham Connect and to share their own ideas. |
