Cotswold Challenge - February 2008
After the massive turnout for Round 1 at Swindon, things returned to normal for Round 2 at Dowty's with 9 home members being joined by only 3 from Swindon, regular championship contenders Neal Callaghan, Rob Lees and Mike Perkins.
Practice started slightly earlier than normal, as publicised and saw reigning champion, Dave Coward top qualifying from Neal, Funky and Rob Harris.
Onto the Finals, and the E Final saw an out of sorts Noddy Lockey failing to progress by inches (3 to be precise) beaten by Mike Perkins controller! Mick Dockery took the wooden spoon!
D Final was the end for Roger Townsend and Phil Radcliffe who had a massive off whilst fighting with Mike Perkins for the second qualifying spot.
The C Final saw Rob Lees holding off Dowty junior, James Davey to qualify for the B Final, whilst Mike Perkins and Graham Fryer were the pair to be eliminated.
The B Final was won by Rob Harris from Funky, whilst Rob Lees and James went out. The A Final went as predicted in advance by Funky, with DV winning from Neal, Rob 3rd and Funky last.
Behaviour was impeccable, racing close and clean(ish), with no hold ups. Next Round is again at Dowty's due to Swindon hosting the BOC in March and several Dowty's racers not wanting to be excluded under the 2 month rule. Date for your diaries is 14th March, followed on the Sunday by Souther 32 at Dowty's.
Hopefully we can entice more Swindon members.
