Dowty Slot Car Racing Club

We race on Friday evenings from about 8pm on our brand new track, which is over 152' (46.4 m) long. Our club cars and controllers are used for corporate events and for visitors.

We have members from 10 years old up to late 50s. The first week is free and it costs £4 per week or £10 per month thereafter. Juniors pay £2 and must be accompanied by an adult. Membership of Dowty Sports & Social is currently £20 per year.

There are many classes of cars, but most of the ones we race at the club cost about £40 new and are much quicker than typical home set cars such as Scalextric, Ninco etc. There are many aspects of slot racing including driving, constructing the cars and painting the bodies. To get to the top takes a lot of practise.

The club's track is situated in the old Horticultural Hut in the far corner of the car park at the Dowty Sports & Social Club at Staverton. There is a bar in the main club house where we go for a chat after racing.

From junction 11 on the M5 head towards Gloucester on the A40. Take the fifth exit from the roundabout (B4063). Carry on through Churchdown, straight across the junction by the Hare & Hounds pub, continue past Brickhampton Golf Club and turn left signposted Down Hatherley opposite Golden Castle Caravans. After passing the factory on your right, turn right immediately before the Sports & Social sign and follow the road to the car park. The track is in the concrete sectional building in the far corner of the car park.

Our track is available for corporate race evenings. For £60 plus £2 per driver your group can enjoy an evening full of great entertainment. Whether you are a local club, company or social group, come and experience some racing fun.
