VALLEJO MODEL COLOURS

Vallejo model colour miscellanies paint range has so much to offer to any painter. There are many advantages to these paints, they range from extending the fluidity of the colour to producing a cool crackling effect. Below are a few examples of the paints which are particularly useful. They all retail around £1.50.

Liquid Mask (197)

Used to reserve areas which are to remain unpainted, especially in airbrush techniques, but also with water colours & temperas, Designers Liquid Colours, Liquid Acrylic & India Ink. Liquid Mask forms a protective film on the area which the artists does not want to paint. Once the work is dry, liquid mask is rubbed off with an eraser or piece of cloth, revealing unpainted area. If the masking fluid is used with Model Color, paint should be diluted with water, since the undiluted acrylic may form a uniform coat with Liquid Mask, and will lift off together with the product when the work is done.

Glaze Medium (195)

A colorless glaze which is used to mix with acrylic colors; improves fluidity, increases transparency, & slows drying time. Ideal for shadows, and shadings. Slow drying acrylic medium of milky appearance, dries transparent. Can be diluted further with water.

Drying Retarder (196)

To delay drying time of Model Color, mix a few drops with the color, of dip brush into retarder on the palette. Colors will not change their consistency. Useful for "wet in wet" techniques & reducing skin formation on the palette

Crackle Medium (198)

Waterbased medium which is used between two coats of paint to create a weathered effect, or as a final coat to create a transparent crackle surface.
